#1 AMAZON BEST SELLER IN CATHOLICISM
Your parish just needs a few people who won’t give up on it.
Save Your Parish is a practical guide to parish renewal written for the Catholic in the pew.
The problem isn’t effort
Parishes are not failing for lack of work. They are full of generous people (staff & volunteers) running ministries. But the parish is still shrinking.
The usual response is to add something — a new program or committee. But these top-down efforts rarely succeed. Your parish needs a ground-up method for revival.
The Four Floors
A Catholic Parish has four roles that build on each other. I call these the "Four Floors."
Foundation
- Ground Floor
Community
Help people meet each other
A parish is a "stable community of the faithful" or in other words, a family of families. Your fellow parishioners should feel like thier parish is their home.
- First Floor
Conversion
Help people meet Jesus.
Successful parishes have a regular and repeatable place where people can encounter (or re-encounter) Jesus, like a retreat of some kind.
- Second Floor
Catechesis
Help people learn the faith.
Most Catholics have less than an 8th-grade understanding of the faith. A strong parish creates curiousity and encourages continuous learning in their parishioners.
- Third Floor
Commission
Help people share the faith.
Every person at the parish (priest, staff, & parishioner) is charged with the mission to "Go make disciples." A strong parish teaches them how to do it.
Who this is for
This book is written for parishioners. If you have no time and no experience but want to help your parish, this book is for you.
“I have read many books on parish renewal, and none compare to Save Your Parish. This is the best resource I've found for building a strong, vibrant faith life in a Catholic parish.”
